March 1, 2023 NJCU Advances to ECAC Semifinals as Four Score in Double Figures in QF Victory ASTON, Pa. — The New Jersey City University women's basketball team, seeded #2 in the 2023 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament, picked up a hard-fought, overall team victory in the Quarterfinal Round on Wednesday night, March 1. The Gothic Knights, who did not trail after the first minute of the game, defeated #7-seed Neumann University, 66-59, as four different NJCU players scored in double figures.
February 22, 2023 Overtime Thriller Goes to the Gothic Knights as NJCU is Headed Back to the NJAC Finals JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Trailing by as many as seven points with just 4:15 to go in regulation, the two-time reigning New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) champion New Jersey City University women's basketball team — also the 2022-23 NJAC Regular-Season champions — bounced back with a vengeance in the final stretch of the fourth to come back and tie it up against #4-seeded The College of New Jersey at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Wednesday night, Feb. 22. NJCU closed out the quarter with a 7-0 run to tie it up and force overtime at 61-61. Then, down by six at 67-61 after two quick Lions' threes to start the extra period, Jersey City stayed strong and outlasted TCNJ for the 78-74 NJAC Semifinal victory on Coach Charlie Brown Court to advance to the program's third consecutive NJAC Championship game, which will take place back at the JMAC on Saturday night, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. against #3 seed Rowan University.
February 15, 2023 NJCU Celebrates Senior Night; Claims First NJAC Regular-Season Title in Program History For the first time in the New Jersey City University women's basketball program's 53-year history, the Gothic Knights have been crown New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Regular-Season Champions. After a slow start to the season, NJCU finished with a 14-4 mark in NJAC play to earn the top overall seed — and home court advantage throughout — the 2023 NJAC Women's Basketball Tournament following the 63-52 victory at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Wednesday night, Feb. 15, over Rutgers-Camden. Jersey City also celebrated Senior Night during halftime, bidding farewell to its three graduating seniors, Jasmine Reese (Jersey City, N.J./Hudson Catholic), Jada Camacho (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) and Janari Newsome (Newark, N.J./Technology).
